In order to use TripSync you will need a device capable of reading near-field communication chips, more commonly referred to as NFC. Click on the link below to see if your phone is compatible.
Android has supported NFC Reading technology since 2012. It is likely your Android device supports NFC Reading, however with the Android OS being supported across multiple manufacturers it is not guaranteed. Below is a list of the most popular manufacturers that offer NFC. For a complete list we recommend visiting https://www.nfcw.com/nfc-phones-list/
If you have a 7, 8, or X download and launch your preferred NFC reader app. If you have an XS or later no 3rd party app is needed.
Tap the top of your phone against the luggage tag, or hover within 1” of the luggage tag. 3rd party NFC reader apps will open TripSync automatically. On newer iPhones click the ribbon notification that appears on the top of the screen.
If your browser settings are set to "Ask" for your location services, then click on “Allow” to allow TripSync to get your location so you can accurately record the miles you travel.
We recommend registering your bag right after creating an account. Products must be registered to unlock the ability to:
In order to register your product follow the steps below.
With TripSync, you can track where you travel whether it’s close to home or around the world. In order to track a trip, you must create a starting point, stop-over points (“Add Stop” button), and an ending point. TripSync will then calculate your miles traveled based on the most direct route (see more below).
To track your travels, follow the steps below:
1. Scan your bag and make sure you are logged in.
2. From the home screen (Travel Overview), click the button to “Start Trip” before you check your bag or take off on your first flight. This establishes your trip starting point.
Once you start your trip, the buttons will change to “Add Stop” and “End Trip”. When you see these buttons, the TripSync app is tracking your travels!
3. Add Stops and end your trip using the buttons on the home screen. See below for when to use which features depending on your type of travel.
For simple round trip travels (you are going from point A to B, then back from point B to A) – Start your travels per the steps above. When you land at your destination, scan your bag and click “Add Stop”. Do your travel things! Once you get back home to your starting destination, scan your bag and click “End Trip”. This will create your end point and stop the trip tracking.
For a trip that includes multiple stops (you are going from point A to B, then B to C, etc.) – You will be using the “Add Stop” function. Start your trip following the steps above, then when you land at your first stop, scan your bag and select “Add Stop”. When you get to your second stop, scan bag again and select “Add Stop” – do this for each unique destination which will mark the city on your travel overview map! Once you complete your travels and are back home, scan your bag and click “End Trip” to close out your travels.
For a one-way trip (your destination is not the same as your starting point, i.e. you are going from point A to point B) – Start tracking your travels per the steps above. Once you get to your final destination, scan your bag and click “End Trip”. This will establish your ending point and end your trip.
Please note, TripSync is a passive technology. This means your bag is not being tracked by GPS. Your trip distance is calculated based off your Start Point, End Point, and any Stops you add along the way. TripSync will use these geographical points and calculate the most direct path between the points. The total miles traveled between each point you create become your total miles traveled for that one trip.
To report your bag lost you must first register it, so we highly recommend you register the bag immediately after signing up. If you lose your bag before you register it you will be unable to report it as lost. To report your bag as lost follow the steps below.
You can access information about your bag easily with TripSync.
Note: For a bag to populate in "My Items" It must have been previously registered. Once it is registered you can access information about that bag at any time, even if it is not the bag you scanned.
Note: To access the product care information of a bag you own, but didn’t scan it must be previously registered within TripSync.

There will be a button “Get in touch with the owner” that allows them to send you an email and get in touch. Together you can then organize how to get your bag back to you.

Anyone with an NFC enabled phone can scan the NFC module and therefore your bag. When you registered the bag the other person scanning can only see the information about the bag and the travel overview. They cannot add travel experiences and/ or register the bag as lost/ stolen. If you did not register your bag, the person could register it under their name and use the full functionality. Therefore, it’s always advisable to register the bag as soon as possible after purchase.
