Planning a trip to Washington, D.C.? Travel Expert Jessica Dodson tells you what must-haves you need to pack and how to efficiently fit it all in your bag.
In this video, Jessica shows us how and what to pack for an 8-day trip, with minimal baggage, in preparation for all sorts of activities in D.C., from museums and walking tours to exploring neighborhoods on your own. Depending on your itinerary and length of your trip, you can adjust your packing accordingly. If you’re only going for a weekend, you may be able to get away with just a backpack!
For this specific trip, we chose the XTA Backpack because it is lightweight and has a convenient laptop sleeve. Unfortunately, we no longer carry this backpack, but we do recommend the Wayfinder 20L as it has just as many neat features. In addition, we utilized the Expanse Carry-on for its size and durable wheels.
Takeaways
- Lay out your outfits in advance. This will help ensure you have everything you need for your trip, and makes it stress-free to decide what to wear for the duration of your trip. Be sure to check the weather report, so you know if you’ll need an umbrella and what kinds of clothing you’ll need. Layers are always useful!
- Wear the heavy stuff, like your bulkiest shoes and sweater, to save room in your bag and keep warm on the flight.
- Pack your easily-accessible backpack strategically. Sleep supplies, snacks, a water bottle, entertainment, and toiletries can make your flight and/or possible layovers that much more enjoyable.
Save yourself the hassle and expense of checking luggage. With our packing organizers, packing everything you need in just a backpack and carry-on bag IS possible. Save space with cube sets, eliminate creases with a garment folder, and keep it clean with a shoe cube. You’ll be amazed how much you can fit in your bag when you keep it organized.
Watch out D.C., we’re coming for ya!
