GET TO KNOW THIS AWARD WINNER AND FIND OUT WHY YOU NEED IT.

If any bag is famous, it's our ORV Trunk. Winner of Outside Magazine's Best Travel Bag of 2014, the ORV Trunk is the Chris Sharma of bags. It's rugged, versatile, and everyone competitor looks up to it. Just like Chris Sharma, we bet you wish you could get to know this piece of luggage a bit better, which is why we’re giving you the inside scoop on the bag that has it all, from external pockets to a wet/dry compartment, to seriously sturdy armor. Here’s a little Q&A with the Eagle Creek Team.

Can you explain the concept behind this bag?
We designed it with extreme durability and functionality for the active adventure traveler. It’s our pinnacle gear bag. Consumers often describe it as "bomb proof" and Outside Magazine awarded it as the 2014 Best Travel Bag.

What inspired the design?
The active adventure traveler was the inspiration for this bag. They need a gear bag they can depend on through the tough conditions that keeps their gear safe and organized. So we built it with our most durable and water-resistant fabric called Bi-Tech™, and added a wet/dry compartment so they can separate wet gear from clean, and an Equipment Keeper with Porter Key attachment because you never want to be stranded with a cold [beer] and no way to open it!

What makes the ORV Trunk 30 different from the ORV Trunk 36?
They are essentially the same bag. The major difference is the size. The 36 is 6 inches taller, so if you have a lot of gear it’s great. I would recommend checking with your airlines size restrictions because some consider it oversized. The other little difference is the ORV 36 has an extra zippered pocket on the front. Other than that, they are pretty much identical.

What’s your favorite feature and why?
If I had to choose one, it would be the wet/dry compartment. I use it on every fly fishing trip to separate my dirty wading boots and waders from the rest of my gear. Second place goes to the Equipment Keeper with Porter Key. I call it the beverage liberator. Hands down the ORV Trunk is my favorite gear bag Eagle Creek makes.
