Eagle Creek Tarmac 28

This product ROCKS!!!
My husband and I decided to put in the investment in this luggage last year and until recently, the luggage had only been used for easy domestic business travels.

Well, that is no longer true. I was in Tokyo during the Earthquake. To catch my flight out of Narita, I had to trek my luggage through the many subways and trains since roads were closed and there was only limited ways to get to the airport. The luggage, packed to the gills, had no trouble jumping tracks and wheeling over any obstacles with it’s big wheels, as I moved around and eventually made my way to the airport.

I expect years of use from this luggage and when it is finally time to retire this luggage, Eagle Creek will be the only brand that I purchase.

Went through several bags each year and after the 5th one, I switch to Eagle Creek Tarmac 28. Best value and decision. Now on the 4th year and it a good as the day I bought it. Any frequent traveler should look at eagle creek bags. They just meant to be used.

I was going through a set of luggage a year and was very tired of it. I saw the reviews and warranty on the Eagle Creek Tarmac and and bought it to try out. It promptly went on a 3 month trip and has been on the travel for 200+ days a year for the past 3 years. It has survived all means of transportation and gorilla handling and is as good as new. I use it with and without the packing accessories which are also fabulous. I am throwing out my husbands luggage and ordering him the tarmacs today. I have previously bought him the large duffle for his international trips requiring lots of specialized gear. It also is still in great shape. You can't go wrong with this luggage!!

Because of the new travel restrictions (size & weight of luggage) we were forced into purchasing new wheeled luggage bags. After many internet & in-person local store evaluations of a wide variety of well known brands (including expensive Tumis, etc) we chose 2 Eagle Creeks Tarmac 28s with their appropriate associated Eagle Creek packing solutions. On the basis of our recent trip (for 5 weeks) via United Airlines cross-country one word is more than sufficient to state the performance of our new Eagle Creek luggage: AMAZING!

In more detail: the Tarmac 28's are exceedingly roomy (more so than our previous older large, bulky, heavy but not as efficient Andiamo soft-sided pieces); they are very light in weight; they are very easy to wheel and maneuver. Strategically located hand straps made hand-handling, when necessary, easy and balanced.

The many separate individually zippered compartments (rather than one/two large compartments) were a marvel; they allowed packing to be systematic and items exceedingly easy to find and retrieve. Additionally, using the EC packing solutions further enhanced the ease of packing and finding; although ensconced in one location for the entire trip, it is easy to note that when frequently moving from hotel to hotel, it would be wonderful to pull out those specific folders or cubes/sacs necessary for that specific portion of the trip and leave the rest packed in their respective compartments.

The folders themselves were unbelievable; although skeptical about how well they would compare to our previous specifically-dedicated folding portions of our other luggage, we were simply amazed. Not only did they hold the promised numbers of clothing pieces, but also the clothing came through with nary a wrinkle- and in fact, although we had packed 2 days ahead of our trip (due to time limitations) and some of our clothes were initially slightly wrinkled when putting them into the EC folders, upon unpacking 3 days later we found that even these pieces of clothing were less wrinkled/more pressed while the rest of the clothes also came out perfectly unwrinkled. Rolling underwear, socks, etc into cubes allowed for more efficient and more compact packing also.

The zippers worked well and easily. The wheels rolled effortlessly and controllably, and they were able to stroll bumpy streets and ascend steep steps, curbs and escalators with ease. The luggage itself is very well balanced and further eases movement and control. The handle system is sturdy and reliable.

The protective molded pocket, sole patches, and skid plate protected as promised.

Cosmetically, after the trip, the entire luggage ensemble came through without even a noticeable blemish.
And it is certainly reassuring to be insured by your "No Matter What" Lifetime warranty!

A very significant factor in our purchase of the Tarmacs was our previous excellent experience with other Eagle Creek products: shoulder bags, business bags, and women\'s bags. Additionally, they are excellently and competitively priced, especially for the features, quality, and warranty they offer. They are quite pleasing cosmetically as well.
In short, again, these specific products are functionally AMAZING!

(P.S.: We have already convinced 3 friends to purchase similar products)

This bag has hauled 2 sets of scuba gear around the world on eight occasions. It's still looking good. Packing this baby to the full 50lbs. is a piece of cake. I have more bags than Imelda Marcos had shoes. This one has risen to #1 among full size pieces.

On a very wintry trip this March to Iceland and Norway, filled with many bus, train, plane, and taxi transfers, as well as subway stairs and cobblestone streets, I was most impressed with the big wheels on my luggage. They made it easy to bridge the gaps on trains, pull my luggage up short flights of stairs, and I knew they could take the beating on Bergen's cobblestone streets. The internal organizers were great, as well. My stuff arrived just how I'd left it, and when I decided to bring two matted, unframed prints home, the expander zipper gave me room for that.
My one thing I would change is to put a handle on both sides of the suitcase. Many times I would lean down to grab it to lift it into a bus, train, car, up a long flight of stairs, etc. and it would be the wrong side. Other than that, I have no improvements so far!
Thanks for making a great product!

I took this luggage to Guatemala this past month. Great piece of luggage to carry through the cobblestone streets and unpaved roads. The pack did not topple over nor get destroyed in rainy weather! There is a plus about this pack too: not destroyed during the travel in the airport from flight to flight transfers!!

I've lugged my bags all the way around the world...a few times! My job takes me to some remote places and my luggage spends plenty of time bouncing around in all types of vehicles from helicopters to horse carts. So far, it has not let me down. My gear stays dry and the luggage is durable. This is impressive given baggage handlers have 200-250 opportunities a year to break it. Other brands generally last a year. My Eagle Creek luggage has survived 2 years and it is still in good shape.

Purchased new Eagle Creek and another piece of luggage costing more and also one of the top related for a two week to China. Upon return (8 airport changes, one cruise ship)
the other piece of luggage had to be replaced by the manufacturer because of "wear and tear" and still under warranty. The Eagle Creek still looked brand new.

I have lugged my Tarmac luggage around the world seven times since 2004 and number trips back and forth from London to Atlanta. My luggage never gives up and has never disappointed me. She remains my constant companion on these long trips, and I cannot do without her. Thank you, Eagle Creek, for producting such a super, dependable, well-built, attractive and long-wearing luggage.

After reading all the other reviews about this bag, I was very excited to get mine. I travel almost every week and thought this bag would stand up to the heavy use. I plunked down my $300 in September and now only 5 months later have sole plates shredding, a zipper pull missing and the zipper just about ready to give way in two places. Needless to say I'm not impressed. I've had $50 bags that I picked up at Ross/TJMAXX/Marshalls perform as well or better over a 5 month period. If I send my bag in for repair, I'll have to go purchase another one to use for 2.5 weeks... Not convenient for someone who travels for work. Also the box, the cost of shipping, the time to take it to the post office and ship. I think this was a failed experiment on my part.

I really love this bag.I have been a roadwarrior for the last 25 years.I have bought all kind of bags. From Delsey to Tumi. The 28 Tarmac is by far and away the best I have used.I am out on a trip for up to three weeks sometimes. All the pockets are a great feature.I bought the large folder and two cubes and a toiletry kit.I have never been so organized. The folder is great for my dress clothes. Also the shoe holder is a nice touch.I use it for 4 pairs of work jeans. The jeans would take up most of my room for packing with the other brands.I am sold on Eagle Creek.I am now going to buy Eagle Creek for the rest of the family.

Choosing a new bag or piece of luggage is a serious thing. This is a relationship, for better, or worse. You and your new bag are stuck with each other till the trip ends. Bags have the same status as gadgets in my world and a purchase decision does not come without some thought and exploration. A new piece of luggage, that I will live out of for months on end, is not an impulse buy. Computer and camera bags for me are more impulsive buys which is probably why I am still in search of that perfect computer, camera bag. However, I do think I have found the perfect piece of luggage. The Eagle Creek Tarmac 28 is that bag. It has a lot going for it. First off it is big. Big enough that I can fit what I need to carry without over stuffing it. It is expandable and will give you %15 more space if you need it, but in the past 2 years I have rarely needed it. I haven't had to to change my the contents of my pack because bag limitations. It has enough inner and outer pockets to hold my stuff and when combined with a few Pack It Cubes it becomes even more versatile. The retractable handle continues to work. It felt a little loose a few months ago but because it is attached using screws I was able to tighten it up myself. The stitched on bottom bumpers started to fail and I sent it in for repair. I was concerned about how long it would take and if I would have to find another bag until my Tarmac 28 was returned to me, but the repair took less than 2 weeks including shipping. And I didn't have to press the issue. The bag came back repaired with new bumpers now bolted on as opposed to sewn. The repair process was as painless and hassle free as a repair can be. I sent an email, received an rma #, shipped the bag to Eagle Creek and they repaired and returned it to me. It looks clean and well done and should solve the issue.
The exterior has held up well given how much use the bag has seen. The color combination makes it easy to spot at airports.

Why is this your favorite product?
So much space! I especially like the 2 interior zippered mesh pockets and large interior door panel. On top of already being such a spacious bags, these extra features allow for even more organization and packing space. I used the interior door panel to store a Pack-It Garment Sleeve that held 4 jackets! Talk about compression!
