How many words do I get?
My first Eagle Creek was this model, but I bought it at the Gold Mine without the zip apart backpack. I took it to China with me in '06 where we banged around Yunnan, guest house to guest house dragging along dirt, gravel and cobblestone streets for a couple of months. It had a
broken bottom, probably why it ended up in the second hand store. Later that year, visiting my daughter in San Marcos, I took my bag down to the factory thinking maybe I could get another backpack, no luck there, but the lifetime warranty covered the bag whether I'd got it at the Gold Mine used or REI new. They fixed it and it was the perfect travel companion, I just used a different back pack that didn't zip on and off.
Last year for another trip to China I bought a new system giving my older one to a very classy lady who says she uses it. I have lugged this new one from Sichuan to Thailand on the ground, attached or not, in the air, on little boats across the Mighty Mekong and on gravel roads that one doesn't even want to admit walking on let alone abusing a bag by dragging it across. It is not the bag of choice for the Lonely Planet Guide backpacker traveler who insists on piling everything deeply on top of everything else heavily loaded down with the big pack on his/her back and the smaller one on the front looking and undoubtedly feeling like a beast of burden, but when we both arrive at the small #2 bus station for local travelers looking for even more off the beaten path local color, I'm the one who comfortably rolls across the parking area to the little bus where likely as not i"m the only foreigner and my bag goes into the bin at the rear or underneath where it will be smothered by who knows what all. At the destination, I'm the one who yanks it out and rolls on off without a wrestling match to get it all over my shoulder. And, although I haven't used the backpack feature of the main bag, it is comforting to know that it is there for when I must turn into a Lonely Planet Guide backpacker traveler with everything on my back and nothing rolling. I love the Golf Mine and even more now that it has turned me on to Eagle Creek. There is no finer way to travel for me. Thanks.

My wife and I have used our Switchback 22's all over the US, Germany, Luxembourg and Sweden for the past 3 years and LOVE them. They are very durable (so tough even the airlines can't wreck them), convenient and easy to organize. We also love the lifetime fix or replace "no matter what" warranty. Don't know any other companies that have such confidence in their product.

I'm a retired Deputy Sheriff who has tested and used virtually every type of gear bag and similar product on the market. Quite simply, the others just don't hold up like Eagle Creek products. In 1999 I purchased four Switchback systems plus a carry-on for each member of my family, and they're still going strong. Our Eagle Creek luggage has taken too many cross country trips to count, has been pulled across cobblestone streets in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, the Arctic Circle, and everywhere in between. All without a single problem, and we never had to check a bag due to the design of the products. In August 2010 I head back to London and my Eagle Creek Switchback will be going with me, again. The durability, quality and customer service are second to none. I highly recommend Eagle Creek to anyone wishing to simplify their travel needs.

Wonderful product - well designed, durable and comfortable. I used it both in the US and in Iraq. The removable daypack with organizer is is perfect when you have to walk to take a shower. Main bag is easily opened to find gear, especially when trying to clear customs.

I bought the Switchback 22 about 3 yrs ago and since then it the main bag I use for all my trips, I’m able to carry a weeks worth of clothes, shoes, toiletries and also bring all my electronics: laptop, 2 cameras, tripods, and so much more
It was well worth the money. The only thing I have not used yet is the backpack part on the main bag, but it there just in case I ever need it.
Now that I will be traveling for a month or more at a time, I need to buy a bigger bag so I am looking in to another Eagle Creek.

How could you go wrong with this item! Just Fabulous, in that it can be wheeled, carried like a backpack, rolled, and it won't embarrass you either. The day pack zips onto the front of the pack "piggy-back" style, so that a woman like me, can wheel everything that I need with one hand. love it!

I own the In-Flight Companion and the Switchback Max 22 Convertible Pack. The Switchback is a very reliable, sturdy and versatile piece of luggage. I have used the Switchback primarily on extended weekend trips. Combined with the Eagle Creek travel system (18 inch folder, pack-it caddy, assorted cubes), I can pack everything I need for a four-day trip. When I combine the Switchback with my In-Flight Companion, I can pack for an entire week. The In-Flight Companion has all kinds of bells and whistles. Best of all, the Switchback and In-Flight Companion are carry-ons that can fit in a jet’s overhead bin. All told, I am extremely satisfied with my high-quality Eagle Creek products.

My Switchback suitcase HAS traveled around the world. I only wish I took pictures of it in each place. I am a flight attendant and it is my luggage of choice. It has been repaired a couple of times. Just recently the plastic frame near the handle was cracked. I am thrilled that it was able to be repaired.

We just returned from a hiking trip in Ecuador and our Switchbacks were perfect for the trip. We had to travel light, and the Switchbacks kept us down to 30 pounds each. On day hikes, we were able to use the day packs to good use. It was also nice not having luggage that looked like all others.

I LOVE this piece of luggage so much that my friends may have thought it was a little unhealthy. But it was so useful! It has wheels (perfect for the long walk between the airport and hostel) AND can be carried as a backpack (perfect for the many stairs in Greece). It's a little bulky when used as a backpack, but maybe it's because I'm small. I've used it for 2 international trips so far and it's held up well.

I spent 2.5 months in Europe a couple summers ago. I was switching cities every 2 or 3 days, I was traveling by bus, ferry, plane and train, and I walked everywhere. I can't even begin to calculate the number of miles I dragged that bag around, and over cobblestones or brick no less. It was great to be able to wheel the pack when traveling, especially in mid summer when the last thing you want is to have something large and hot against your back. The zip out straps also proved to be very useful in getting my stuff to my room in the many hostels I stayed in with many floors and no elevator. To top it all off, when I got home after my trip, my bag still looked almost brand new. Overall, it was an excellent purchase.

This luggage has been to 26 countries and still going strong! Sent in once for free handle repair and came back fully refurbished. WOW>The best feature is the sturdy backpack straps. Really helpful when walking down Seattle's icy streets after a winter storm, jumping off a bonca boat on White Beach in the Philippines, or navigating the Paris subway turnstiles with a cheese sandwich in my hands. It has been abused by countless baggage handles at airports, bus terminals, train stations, ferry piers. The cargo switchback has survived falls from the back of jeepneys, took-tooks, a motorcycle, pedi-cab crash, off the back of an elephant, and into the drink on Bohol Island. It just keeps on keepin on!

We love our switchbacks. Most of the time we just wheel them around, but traveling over the bridges in Venice and Florence makes them the ideal travel companion since you can just use them as a backpack. They are showing no signs of wear even after 40 business and pleasure trips.

Had it on two trips--one to Italy and another to Vietnam. The irremovable day pack is great for air travel and carryon. Can then connect everything once you get to the destination. Back pack straps are good option when dragging the case on wheels is not!! I think it is great and helps make the trip alot easier with easy to organize necessary stuff readily available in the zip off day pack.

I've had my Switchback for about 12 years, and love it. We've travelled at least twice a year, and my Switchback has held up well, despite being dragged through four continents. This little piece of luggage holds everything I need for a month in Costa Rica, a summer in Europe, an archaeology dig in Israel, or a short trip to a family occasion.
It rolls like normal luggage, but then has shoulder straps to turn into a large pack - excellent when your room turns out to be on the top floor of the B&B. But the Switchback also looks urban enough to roll through the streets of Manhattan.
I love it! Best piece of luggage I've ever invested it. AND it always fits on an airplane, so I rarely have to check luggage - another big plus for this bag.

I used an Eagle Creek bag on a month-long trip around Ireland and the UK last spring and it made traveling a breeze! The sturdy rolling wheels were a lifesaver, even on hilly cobblestone streets in Edinburgh, and it was easy to pack and re-pack at each hostel stop. It was crammed full by the time I headed home, and everything made it back safely, including the Irish whiskey! I borrowed the bag from a friend who had previously used it backpacking around Europe herself for almost a year, and now I am planning to go work in Ireland, and will be looking for an EC bag of my own.

My husband and I have traveled all over the world, to Europe, China and South America. We have had our Switchbacks' for about 10 years. This is the only luggage we take on extended trips...all carry-on. When we got to Europe, my husband's boss said "Let's go get your luggage". We remarked this was it. We were staying a month and had only our Switchbacks and the boss was staying a week and had 3 times what the two of us had! Learn to pack light, learn to pack right, and you'll have everything you need. Over the years, we've lost a buckle and one strap broke, but other than that, it's been great. We haven't used the backpack feature much, but I'm glad to know it's there if we have to. The only change I'd make, is to add a ring or two to clip things like glasses to the outside of the small pack, or even another front pocket above the existing one, but I've been happy with every Eagle Creek product I've ever purchased.

Earlier this year, my mom and I were taking a trip back to El Salvador to visit our family. The last time we went we took small trips all over El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Panama. The cheap suitcases she bought were destroyed before we got home. After that trip, I decided to do my research on suitcases. Since I’m an archaeologist and I travel a lot, I bought a Switchback max 25, a Tarmac flight bag, several cubes and an ES Cargo Duffel. I love your products! I convinced my mom to put in the extra money and buy a Load Warrior 22. She took it on three trips down to Los Angeles and it still looks great. Since we were making the trip down to El Salvador again she bought the Sport Companion for more room. We went all over El Salvador and Guatemala with our entire collection of Eagle Creek bags, folders and cubes with the tomato and sangria colors they were easy to spot. A few ribbons on my black suitcase and we were on our way. I can honestly say that we have become a family that only travels with Eagle Creek luggage. Thank you for making such great products!

This bag is worth every cent! I am a locomotive engineer that has to load my bags on and off a locomotive every day. I pretty much carry my life with me since I am gone so much. I used to go through 2-3 bags per year (average price is about $80 per bag). I decided to spend the extra coin to buy this bag. I have now had it for about 30 months. There is only minimal wear and tear thus far. There was a problem with the handle not extending but it was returned to Eagle Creek, repaired and returned in about 12 days. Do not think twice about the purchase of this bag.

I just traveled around the world for six months and this was absolutely the best bag. I wheeled it over dirt roads in Indonesia and threw it on top of buses in Nepal. It always managed to zip up no matter how many extra scarves and trinkets I crammed in there. Hello, we've just arrived home in the UK after a year circumnavigating the globe with our three small children. I wanted to write and say that we have tried and tested 2 of your Switchback ES Max and an ORV trunk through 29 countries, 5 continents and 60,000 miles (try that with a 4 year old!) They are fantastic, we would recommend them to anyone - and frequently do. I was stuck. I was alone, save our toddler, and stuck with a car seat, two carry on's, two checked bags, a stroller, and in a foreign airport. Okay, so it wasn't really 'foreign', it was just Salt Lake City, but it was certainly foreign to me and I could NOT get the (so-called) Smarte Cart our of the rack. There was no way I could possibly get all this stuff from baggage claim to the taxi stand in one trip. I would have to shuttle it all, leaving, at some point, some pieces of luggage unattended. Then I remembered my Switchback's backpack straps. I quickly whipped 'em out, donned the Switchback like a backpack, loaded up the stroller with our toddler, loaded up the other rolling bag with the carry-on's and was able to move out to the taxi stand - ferrying it all in one trip. If it hadn't been for the versatile Switchback, I could have been hosed. I've now taken this bag to Brazil, Iceland, Maine, and on numerous family trips. It's so versatile and dependable that I've been able to use the backpack for day hikes, not worried about checking glass and other delicate gifts when packed in the hard-sided main compartment, and even used it for the toughest duty of them all: organizing diapers, wipes, toys, outfits, night-night books, and more for our toddler. Overall, a superior bag, whether you're headed to Iceland or just stuck in the Salt Lake City airport.

Just wanted to let you know that the bag has been working out super well. Have put over 100k miles into it already and going well. Whether pulling my 5 year old daughter, perched on it like the Queen of Sheba facing backwards through the airport, going to a race, schlepping water bottles course-side for VIPs or doing a 2-week trip around the world with only one bag, it has lived up to its reputation. Fantastic.
On the plane to Paris as I write this; the bag will likely see some time bumping around the cobblestones of the famous Paris Roubaix bike race this weekend.
