These towels are far superior to any other travel towels I've used, and they outperform the heavy, expensive cotton terry cloth towels I've used as well.
The Eagle Creek towels are far lighter, far thirstier, dry *WAY* faster, and they don't leave any lint at all. Granted, they don't have the thick, plush feel of the cotton towels, but I'll gladly give that up for the superior drying performance. And it's not just a "guy thing" -- my wife was sold on them from the first use (drying after a shower), and now she wants another for drying her hair as well.
I got mine for about 30% off on a closeout, and I'm now ordering several more at almost full MSRP for general home use. They're expensive, but worth it in my opinion.
However, if you're backpacking and concerned with keeping weight to an absolute minimum, you'd probably prefer the thinner "chamois-type" fabric of the others, as these have a terry cloth texture and are somewhat heavier. However, their drying performance is hands down better than the chamois-style travel towels I've got (MSR & REI).

Instead of a travel blanket bring an extra large towel. It doubles as airplane comfy and beach towel when you get to destination.

Large-sized but still lightweight! Soft and absorbant for traveling!

Another great Eagle Creek product, this travel towel is enormous but still very light weight! This is crucial while traveling (especially as the airlines are continually scaling back the weight you’re allowed to carry). I did a lot of research before purchasing this product and found it to be the most "bang for my buck" in the weight to size ratio:

Despite it's light weight, it's very absorbent and softer than other brands of travel towels. It even comes with its own travel sack! This towel could be improved by making the hanging loop a button closure (easier/more practical). I also wish it came in other colors, but I'm still more than happy with this product. A great buy for the savvy traveler!
